This is my video Blog and I invite you to peek in and see how my family and I are learning to be green; physically, mentally, and spiritually. Come share in our journey of discovery! Interested in aquaponics? Go here to grow up to 10 times the plants, in half the time, while the “fish” do all the work! -begin ad-http://thelocalwebsolution.com/aquaponics4you_gl.html -End of Ad There is a better way out there and I am going to find it.
While thinking about the best over all way to provide food locally and reduce our carbon footprint. We have chosen to make aquaponics a central part of our greener life and as a result our focus as of late has been to expand our Aquaponics Systems.
We constructed an outdoor pond that holds around 1500 gallons of water. In addition to the pond we have installed a 32 foot by 12 1/2 foot gravel grow bed that has a volume of 2,742 gallons. This bed is large enough to feed up to 6 people if planted to capacity.
Well.. I think we are just a little greener now..
Greener physically because, I have found a way to eat only food produced on site saving fossil fuel. Greener mentally, as I will be requiring less income and that lifts a lot of stress and that further sets in my mind the importance of being Green.

Just dont believe …
Just dont believe the lies about global warming. It’s a globalist agenda to control population, and usher in world totalitarianism.
We will all soon …
We will all soon have to live greener lives. Economic conditions will require it. I’m thinking of a small flood & drain system in a solar greenhouse. I think I’ll see how warm I can keep it through the winter first. It would be nice if I can keep it warm enough for Tilapia
I am glad to hear …
I am glad to hear that you are making progress! Over the next year or two I am going to fill in the area around the aquaponic system with square foot gardens. First priority this year is a green energy system then a humanure system so that we can also close the nutrient loop. Interesting fact, over 70% of the nutrients in human waste is in the urine, but all together it does make quality humus. I am currently growing wheat using only urine.
Once again, …
Once again, terrific job. We’ve slowed down on the aquaponics effort because we’ve gone crazy establishing our permaculture food forest. Tonight I begin a four day fast that will keep my hands out of the dirt. Perhaps I can now find time to document this recent activity. Also, we’ve about completed our humanure system that will transpose black waste into soldier fly larvae for the fish/chickens, thus finally closing the loop between our waste and food.
The waste system should avoid code!
