Have you ever gone to your local nursery or aquaponics store and found that fish emulsion was more expensive than a gallon of gas?!? Well we are tired of it!! And in these hard times, one must get a little dirty to save a little green. Although this is not all fish emulsion, it is very similar and has the same nutritional value for your plants and the same quality. Plus, it is cheaper to make your own anyways. **Ignore Title in Video**
be careful with … be careful with this stuff guys, you could cause more harm than good .
Not doubting that you guys are trying to be careful , but if the wrong stuff multiplies out of control , it could overpower the goodness in your soil…
looking forward to see what happens ,,, if it works great maybe you can send me a bottle to trial in my garden! heheh
Did you ever try to … Did you ever try to just take a few scoops of it and putting it into a knee high and using it to make like a compost tea? Might save some work and looks like you would have enough raw materials for all summer
@MIgardener In … @MIgardener In aquaponics, they run the water through a filter before feeding to the plants. Any idea what that filter is and what it’s for? Do you think it might have an application in your experiment here?
@MIgardener That’s … @MIgardener That’s OK. I was just trying to help and not be one of those know it all’s that seem to critique everyone’s video’s. I have watched a bunch of videos on this online and read quite a few articles. Most people don’t know about it and you had great intentions of showing people something new and useful and you did! To that end, I have never seen anyone do what you did with your pond materials so you might be a first and onto something! It will be interesting to see the results!
@mediamaker2000 we … @mediamaker2000 we realized this after shootign and it was to late to recorrect, so we added in the description, and changed the main title on youtube, sorry for any false information. you are correct, fish immulsion is ground up fish, and although we have had about 20 frogs die, 10 fish, and all their poop too, it still would not qualify as fish “immulsion”. sorry for the mixup.
@mediamaker2000 do … @mediamaker2000 do to the immense amount of fish poop and dead/decaying matter in the pond, there is so much nitrogen. we testes the water for e-coli, and it came up negitive. we also tested for phosforus and found 3%, as well as testing for potash, witch we only found traces ( >.05%) so basicly,if you ever try this, you may want to partner it with a 10-20-20 or a 10-30-20.
I do have a pond … I do have a pond and a tree above it and it keeps getting full of stinky sewer smelling yuck… but I dont’ know that i’m patient enough to sit and do that… Let’s see how it works for you…. Good idea!
playing in that … playing in that sludge will either make you sick or boost your immune system its always to get a little dirty now and then we use too much soap and wont worry Bri i drank far worse and im still kinda normal at least thats what the voices tell me
If you have never … If you have never done this before, I would suggest that you test it on a on just a few plants just to be sure that you are not introducing bacteria that may not be beneficial bacteria to your plants. I would hate to see you wipe out a whole beautiful crop. If you have done this before, what kind of results have you gotten?
Not trying to be … Not trying to be too picky about the name but fish emulsion is usually and by definition, ground up, blended and liquified parts of fish especially including the fish oils of the fish flesh. What I would call what you have there as fish castings combined with aquatic based compost (the tree leaf portions). Although I disagree with the name you gave it, I think it is a highly creative and interesting idea that has to be full of all kinds of nutrients! To be continued…
@kiml1508 yes we … @kiml1508 yes we did! and the water that was filtered off was poured directly on the leaves and plant. and the biosolids were saved to be used in small portions.
Great idea! I know … Great idea! I know I would always use the water from my aquarium in my flower garden. Good video. Bet someone needed a shower after that. lol
Pond scum. Great … Pond scum. Great way to use something most people would toss in the garbage. Even for people that don’t have gardens they can pour it on there lawn.
Good video, thanks!

@MIgardener I always wondered, if you have like 5-10-10, can you just double the amount to get an equivalent 10-20-20?
